Schloss Vaux

Schloss VAUX was founded in Berlin in 1868. In the years that followed, the company acquired Château VAUX—located near Metz on the Moselle River—along with extensive vineyards, thereby establishing a German “sparkling wine house.” For forty years, Château VAUX housed the sparkling wine cellars. Then the owners were forced to relinquish the property, which had by then come under French ownership. The new home of the winery became Eltville am Rhein, known as the “City of Roses.”

Finally, in 1982, a small but select group of friends acquired Schloss VAUX from a subsidiary of Dresdner Bank AG. Gustav Adolf Schaeling, a bank director from Wiesbaden, took over as chairman of the advisory board and began breathing new life into the historic sparkling wine house. Five years later, the shareholders converted the sparkling wine cellar into a stock corporation.
